I was reading one of my favorite website magazines earlier today and then it hit me that I had not updated our clientèle on the importance of social marketing as a part of their campaign in quite a while!
One of the major changes that just occurred is that Google is now utilizing Real Time Search. This means that going forward, on many queries - Google will place a scrolling box with real time search results on the first page and often close to the fold. This can dramatically effect client's who had made major progress on a keyword but still only managed to make it to number 6 or below on the first page of organic results - the real time results might push you back onto the second page or beyond!
Are you wondering what in the world are Real Time Results? Often, real time results are going to be fed from social sites such as Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, Reddit, Yelp or Blogs. In the Vacation and Travel World - watch out for real time reviews to show up in some search results!
In order to see what this new Search World is like - you must opt in to the program via Google. You can opt-in at
www.google.com/experimental and then Google will utilize your Google Profile to help provide you with the most relevant results when performing a search. Google will utilize your profile not only on Google, but also any of your Social Networking sites and your friend's social networking sites to help provide you with the most relevant results based on your personal preferences and lifestyle.
To make it short, this means that the more connections you create on Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace, YouTube and beyond - will directly impact your online presence and your own search query results. Keeping up your Facebook is no longer just a pastime of the bored front desk agents in the off season - this is a very important part of your Online Marketing campaign today and into the future.
